Guys,

This was meant to be sent out in an email, but for whatever reason it hasn't.

CVGS do not have a scheduled meeting again until the 3rd February.

We do not have room bookings until this date. All room bookings up until the end of March have been placed in the Events Calendar. Remember, you can click the Event to bring up information about specific times. I am willing to organise a social during normal times on Monday if people are willing, but it will not be a normal meeting.

Other room bookings we have will be added after the site has been migrated to the new version. Data is likely to be lost during this transition period and so it isn't worth putting up just yet.

As usual, I hope to see you all on the 3rd February. If you have any issues with the Society in general please let me, or another member of the committee, know and please feel free to bring games with you at the meetings to play. We will play member-bought in games as a priority from now on (Excluding tournaments)

On that note, because the Union screwed up a bit on the room bookings we are going to be a tournament short this semester. As a result it is up to the members which tournament they would like to drop. The schedule for this week was Blur, and Modern Warfare the next. Members can choose which 1 of these tournaments they would like to play on Friday 3rd February.

Sorry for the inconvenience this causes, I hope to see you all soon.

No tournaments will be held beyond the 26th of March, this is to accomodate Easter study leave and then the exam period, because exams > society.

 

Essential site maintenance

Ok, so I've put this off for far too long now. We will be switching over to the latest version of Joomla hopefully by the end of the week. It has come to my attention that in my breaks at work I have far too much spare time with nothing to do so I might as well work on migrating the site to the new frontend. This means that there may be potential downtime/outages/loss of new posts as I work on it. I will hopefully be able to copy the SQL tables and convert them to the new format and keep everything as-is. For the most part the only changes that you will see will be the possibility that the POLL_XT module may start working and some of the modules may change.

Now to just figure out if I can get away with running an FTP client in here...

CVGS!

Painstakingly I have waded through a crappatonne of information that contradicts itself in definition to bring you a definitive list of the first 14 CVGS meetings. Go, to the events page. Now. And never come back! No, wait, come back. Just come back on the dates outlined -on- that page.

23rd Jan is now our new first meeting in Training Rooms 1 & 2 at the usual time.

...also, that whole Sunderland Uni thing was cancelled. Frankly they didn't have enough time to fit us in given all the editing to be done. Which I say, fair enough. And good luck to you guys! Wherever you are...
